Where Nashville Locals Take Their Friends

If you are coming to Nashville and do not want to step a foot in the major tourist places, these suggestions are perfect for you. Or, if you are a local looking for a new favorite spot, maybe you will find one on this list. These are the five experiences and five restaurants that Nashville locals take their friends.

We asked our local Nashville friends where they take their visitors when they come to town and we got back some awesome responses! Between their responses and our personal favorites, we compiled a list of five experiences and five restaurants that are just waiting for you.

5 Experiences

Barcelona Wine Bar

This is a really cool and unique spot to take your friends when they come to town. Find your new favorite wine or tapas plate in one visit to Barcelona Wine Bar. This spot offers small plates for brunch and dinner created by incredibly talented chefs. Tapas are their speciality and there is a South American or Spanish wine waiting for you. This is a great place for a nice, calm evening to catch up with friends where it is easy to talk to one another.

6th and Peabody

While this may be a popular spot, we take every friend who comes to town here. Between the large tvs, live music and cornhole boards, this spot is a whole lot of fun. Grab a YeeHaw Brewing beer flight or go for a Ole Smoky moonshine tasting and spend quality time with your friends. This is a great year round spot to enjoy because the building stays heated in the winter and the expansive outside lawn is great for any size get together when the weather is warmer.

PBE fam’s rec: The sour watermelon moonshine margarita! It’s our favorite.

The Listening Room Cafe

This is one of the best places to catch live music while in town and that is saying something. The talent that the Listening Room brings in is incredible and there are no bad shows. Listen to several artists perform throughout the night in an intimate setting with great food and drinks. Artists big to small walk in their doors so this is a great way to give your out of town friends a unique taste of what Nashville does best.

PBE fam’s rec: Catch a Song Suffragettes show and hear from some incredibly talented women.

Nashville Predators Game

While this may be a popular spot, we had to include it on the list because it is one of the most fun experiences in town and Nashville locals love it. No matter where you are in the arena, you have a good view of the action and the atmosphere is always amazing. These are some of the best fans in all of sports and we stand by that. PBE fam’s rec: If your friends do want to catch Broadway, heading there after a game is a great way to do it because you are already right there.

Pins Mechanical Co.

If you are wanting to take your friends out but don’t want to go to Broadway, Pins Mechanical Company is one of the best spots to go. They have the most fun cocktails and games to play the night away. Their room completely filled with pinball machines is unmatched and will have you smiling the night away. This is a great place to bring your friends to celebrate something or introduce your out of town friends to the Nashville scene without fighting all the people downtown.

PBE fam’s rec: Do not skip the Duckpin bowling or yard pong.

5 Restaurants

Emmy Squared

“You have to get the cheesy garlic sticks!”

There is so much to love about Emmy Squared! Be sure to grab a pan of their famous waffle fries or one of the cleverly named cocktails. The pizzas all have fluffy crusts with crips bottoms and quality toppings. They have several locations throughout Nashville and be sure to make a reservation with this restaurant. The location in Green Hills is right next to a movie theater and the mall so it is convenient to find something to do before or after dinner. This is one where it is hard to pick something off the menu because it all looks good.

Brixx

In the Green Hills area, Brixx is a spot that we find ourselves at often. It is the perfect casual hang out spot away from the most packed restaurants and craziness of downtown. They have a wide variety of pizza flavors all in personal sizes with crusts that are incredible. Finish it all off with a unique beer that they have on tap.

Green Hills Grille

Located right across the road from Brixx, they have an incredible menu from brunch to dinner. This is a wonderful spot for a dinner celebration with family or brunch with friends. Their assortment of cocktails and entrée options truly has something for everyone. The grille gets rather busy on the weekend so be sure to call ahead or make a reservation.

Snooze A.M. Eatery

We had to include a breakfast place in this list! Besides having one of the most fun decorated interiors, their outdoor patio is the perfect place to sip a breakfast cocktail. Choose between many breakfast options including a pancake flight and famous Snooze breakfast burrito. Try their pancake flavor of the week or grab a fun mimosa. On top of all the good eats, they responsibly source their ingredients and divert almost 90% of their waste away from landfills.

Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen

If you have a large group, this is your place. Spending time together as a family is one of their core values and the southern home feel of the restaurant leaves the bustle of the world outside. When you go, you HAVE to try the biscuits! Enjoy family-style servings of the southern classics straight from Paula Deen’s kitchen. From breakfast to dinner, there is no where to go wrong with this restaurant. If you love southern food, this restaurant is just waiting for you.
